Anton Sculean

Prof. Dr. Anton Sculean, DMD, PhD, Dr. h.c. mult.

Anton is Professor and Chair of the Department of Periodontology and Head of the Dental Research Center at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Bern, Switzerland. A globally recognized leader in periodontal science and education, he is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Oral Reconstruction Foundation.

Prof. Sculean has authored over 510 peer-reviewed publications and 40 textbook chapters and has delivered more than 600 invited lectures worldwide. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of Periodontology 2000, the leading journal in the field. His numerous accolades include the Distinguished Scientist Award from the International Association for Dental Research (IADR), the IADR/PRG Award in Regenerative Periodontal Medicine, and honorary memberships and doctorates from leading dental institutions across Europe.

He is Past President of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP), the Swiss Society of Periodontology, and the International Academy of Periodontology. Consistently ranked among the top global experts in periodontics, Anton research focuses on periodontal wound healing and regeneration, esthetic periodontal and peri-implant surgery, and the use of novel therapies such as lasers and photodynamic disinfection.
